NOT CHUCKS
Well, Converse squandered over 100 years of good will and personal branding from artists, punks, rebels and outsiders for a flash-in-the-pan media moment that they just might not be able to come back from. Initially, I know people had the impulse to ditch their All Stars all together - but I have a friend who works with special needs kids, and they associate her with her fun wardrobe, and wild variety of Chucks that she alternates every day. She couldn't bring herself to wear the shoes, but also knew these kids had certain expectations from her, and deviating from her comforting pattern would be a challenge.
There are other reasons not to chuck your Chucks. Converse and Nike already have your money - and me personally, I'm trying to keep my shoes in working order as long as possible.
But this is our brand - not theirs. We adopted them. So, if you've got time before they wear out, replace or cover up your All Star stars with the designs I whipped up below. You'll find downloadable PDFs and PNGs at the bottom of the page.
(I suggest outlining each image with 20 pixels the color of your shoe, so you can cut them out more easily. I'll be printing mine on vinyl sticker sheets, but if you have access to a laser jet, you can print them on fabric sheets. Sew or glue them on. I hear Fabric Mod Podge will protect them.
